We are located in the prestigious Salam Tower with panoramic views of Doha’s Corniche and close to the new Al Waab City off Salwa Road. The dental centres feature the latest dental technology paving the way to a new generation of dentistry.

We have a refreshingly modern approach to dental care, one that merges the latest state-of-the-art technology and techniques with high levels of professional and friendly service. The British International Dental Centre introduced the first Dental Spa to Qatar. Computerised crowns (crowns while you wait) and 3D radiographs using low dosage of radiation are available. Other exciting technology we use include the laser, and the operating microscope. We can provide exceptional, individual dental care for you and your family. Our vision and commitment are to dental excellence.

We place a strong emphasis on providing a safe and hygienic environment for our guests and staff. The cross-infection control is of the highest standards and includes the use of ‘B’ type sterilizers, which are top of the range. The dental chairs have a special water sterilization unit attached.

We consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have such a great team at our dental centres. All our staff are friendly and understanding, and regularly attend courses and have their own study groups to help keep their skills and techniques up-to-date.

Your dental experience will no longer be a painful and unpleasant one. Start Smiling.

Our mission is to provide our patients with the highest standard of care throughout your relationship with us. 99.8% of patients from 474 surveyed in 2018 said they would recommend  our dental centres to a friend and 69% of patients come from referrals.

We offer six specialties as well as general dentistry in one location, our multidisciplinary team collaborate together to make treatment recommendations that facilitate quality patient care. We are patient focused and ensure you make the final decisions regarding your dental health.

The entire family can be seen and cared for from 3 years to 95 years old

Intra-oral Cameras

You can now see what we see with this camera. You become better informed, and we can detect problems sooner

Intra-oral Digital X-rays

We use digital x-rays in most cases to minimize dosages and offer low dose digital x-ray OPGs to visualize the whole mouth in one go, especially useful to plan wisdom tooth extraction, plan implants and diagnose pathology.

Oral cancer screenings

Part of your consultation includes oral cancer screening. Oral cancer has been reported to be amongst the cancers which are the most frequently detected. The prevalence of oral cancer has gone up by 25% over the past decade with indulgence in tobacco and/or alcohol being the main causes. When detected early, this type of cancer is not life threatening as figures show that 90% of people who receive early treatment are cured, whereas a delay in treatment lowers the figure to 50%. It is therefore essential to alert us without delay if you have:

  • Unexplained bleeding in the mouth
  • Difficulty swallowing or moving the tongue
  • Development of white or red patches in the mouth, lips or gums
  • Ear pain
  • Change in the way your teeth or jaws fit together

Scaling

Cleanings are performed by our dentists  who will also educate and instruct you on cleaning your teeth effectively in- between appointments. We believe that prevention is better than cure. Your daily oral hygiene routine is especially important in prevention of gum disease.

Dentists agree that interproximal cleaning using floss or interdental brushes or a water pik is an essential part of your daily oral hygiene routine.

Healthy gums are the foundation to any extensive cosmetic treatment, and indeed a healthy mouth. Recent research has shown links with periodontal disease and general health . Inflammation may be responsible for the link to Diabetes, Heart Disease, Alzheimer, respiratory disease and cancer. On a regular basis we monitor your periodontal pockets (space around the collar of a tooth), to ensure there is minimal active gum disease.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain used to recreate the natural look of teeth. It is bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Veneers are a quick and effective solution to stained, chipped, misshaped or crooked teeth. They can also be used to cover gaps in teeth where orthodontic treatment may not be suitable.

Your dentist will do a smile analysis to determine which steps are necessary to achieve the smile that you desire. In addition, your dentist may create a diagnostic mock up so you can see if the final result is what you are looking for.

A thin layer of tooth surface (usually less than 1mm) can be removed to create room for the veneer. You might be given a local anaesthetic as a precaution, but the procedure shouldn't cause you pain. Once your tooth has been prepared, you may have a temporary cover placed over it while your veneer is being created - you'll have an impression taken of your mouth.

Once the veneer is ready, it'll be attached to your tooth and amended if necessary, before being permanently secured to it. Once you're happy with it, you'll need to ensure you take good care of your new veneer, just as with the rest of your teeth. With proper care, veneers can last for years, but they can be replaced should any damage occur.

It is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and an original tooth. Veneers as oppose to crown will allow your natural teeth to remain largely intact.

Prostodontics & Implantology

This is the branch of dentistry concerned with fitting artificial replacements for missing teeth.Procedures include implant, crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, complete and partial dentures.

A dental bridge essentially 'bridges the gap' in your teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth either side of the gap called abutment teeth, and a false tooth in the middle called a pontic. A dental bridge is a permanent solution for a missing tooth, meaning you can be free to enjoy the foods you love again.

Bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials.

To create the bridge, your dentist will prepare the teeth and take an impression of your mouth. This involves creating a plaster mould of your teeth and gums, so the bridge can be made to fit your mouth as closely as possible. Your dentist will then take a second impression to make the bridge the exact shape. In the meantime, your dentist can fit a temporary solution, such as a plastic bridge or crown, while you're waiting for your permanent bridge to be made. Once it's ready, your dentist will ensure it's a perfect fit, and you can bite comfortably

Once it's in place, you'll need to take particular care of your bridge as additional and regular oral hygiene care is required. If it is well looked after, a bridge can last for many years.

Dentures

Dentures may be made from acrylic resin, cobalt chrome and acrylic resin or a new flexible material. They are not fixed and can be removed by you. They may be used if implants or bridges are not suitable for you and can replace a few teeth or all your teeth.

Dental Implant

When teeth are missing, the bone which previously supported the teeth, melts away, or reabsorbs. Since the bone structure supports all the muscle and tissue of the face this results in very visible aging: collapsed facial profiles, lost lip support, increased wrinkles around the mouth and the appearance of a pointed nose and chin that are too close together.

Dental implants allow reconstruction with stable, comfortable replacement teeth and virtually stop future bone loss, maintaining the integrity of facial structures and a natural appearance.

Dental implants are substitute, or replacement tooth roots. They provide the same function as natural tooth roots, including stimulating the bone, thereby preserving it and preventing bone loss. The jawbone actually forms a bond with the dental implants, creating a stable foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Tooth replacement with dental implants prevents further deterioration of facial structures and the related health problems that would normally occur with complete tooth loss.

If you have lost one or more teeth and wish to continue to eat comfortably, increase your chewing confidence, and improve your appearance, speech, and self-esteem, then you will be interested in dental implants. An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and is made from surgical-grade titanium alloy. The implant is placed into the jawbone either immediately after the tooth lost or later. If there is insufficient bone, procedures can be performed to restore this before the implant is inserted.

Dental implants are not subject to dental decay and have an excellent long term prognosis. The placement of a dental implant is typically completed in less than an hour, as an office procedure with only local anaesthesia. Post-operative discomfort is normally less than that of a tooth extraction. It is often possible to have a temporary restoration so that you are not without a tooth. After a period of three to six months of healing, the temporary abutment is removed and a final one inserted into the implant and the crown fitted.

The dentists at British International Dental Centres are experienced in the use of dental implants. The Technology and Science involved in the development of reliable dental implants was first introduced into mainstream dental care in the 1970s following the revolutionary work of Professor Branemark in Sweden. Since this treatment was introduced to the Doha area by Dr. Sarah's Clinic in 1994 the sophistication of the implants available to us has continuously developed allowing us to help more and more patients with every type of dental problem. The success of our implant treatments is related to the availability in house of the full range of implant treatments and specialist training.

We now use the latest Straumann SLActive®’s acclaimed dental implant surface technology with clinically proven success is designed to provide:

  • Safer and faster treatment
  • Higher treatment predictability

Computerised Crowns

New techniques and materials available today allow crowns and bridges to look more life like. All porcelain crowns restore a tooth to its natural function. Gone are the days of unsightly black, grey margins near the gum-line.

Traditional restorative dentistry requires several visits, a rubbery impression in the mouth, a fragile temporary restoration, and a two-to-four week wait for the laboratory to fabricate the crown.

CEREC technology can provide you with porcelain restorations in just minutes, rather than having to wait weeks. After the tooth is prepared an optical impression is taken of the tooth. In about 15 minutes, the CEREC milling machine will sculpt your ceramic restoration from a block of porcelain, while you relax in the Dental Spa. The restoration is permanently bonded to your tooth. The end result is a ceramic restoration that looks and feels just like your natural teeth.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are your third molars at the back of your mouth. Most people have wisdom teeth and they usually erupt in your late teens or early twenties. Many of us have too small of a jaw to accommodate these teeth. Often, we may recommend having these teeth removed before they have a chance to cause complications for you. When a third molar is unable to properly move into it's proper position, it may become impacted, growing into your mouth sideways, backwards, and in awkward angles.

A periodontist is a dentist who specialises in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. More recently they also can improve the aesthetics of your gums. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. Periodontists are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease. In addition, they can perform cosmetic periodontal procedures to help you achieve the smile you desire.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the straightening of crooked, protruding, or misaligned teeth through the use of braces (wires and brackets) or appliances so that they can look, feel, and function better. Gentle pressure is placed on the teeth so that they slowly move into the right place over a number of months or years.

If you are interested in finding out about orthodontics for yourself or your child, please call our office to set up a consultation visit with our consultant orthodontist. If you are a good candidate for treatment, we can proceed with taking the appropriate models, x-rays, and photographs for you.

Invisalign

Invisalign can give you the beautiful straight teeth you have always wanted. It works through a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners without metal wires or brackets that no one can tell you're wearing. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after.

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed. You'll visit your orthodontist or dentist about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

The aligners are made through a combination of our consultant orthodontist expertise and 3-D computer imaging technology. To ensure a high degree of accuracy, impressions are taken of your teeth by your doctor. our consultant orthodontist sends Invisalign plaster models of your teeth.

Using advanced imaging technology, Invisalign transforms your plaster models into a highly accurate 3-D digital image. A computerized movie depicting the movement of your teeth from the beginning to the final position is created.

Invisalign uses laser scanning to build a set of actual models that reflect each stage of your treatment plan. Your customised set of aligners are made from these models, sent to our consultant orthodontist, and given to you. You wear each aligner for about two weeks.

After wearing all of your aligners in the series, you get the beautiful smile you always wanted.
