Education & Medical Qualifications
  • Charmaine is an enthusiastic and committed Occupational Therapist who graduated from the University of Northampton with BSc first class honors degree.  Her Post Graduate research explored Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how the condition impacts the quality of life for children and their families. She also completed Postgraduate Diploma studies in Sensory Integration Therapy (SI) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) within the UK.
  •  As a licensed Occupational Therapist, Charmaine is passionate about working with children and their families, with over 7 years of experience. She began her career within an adolescent LD / Autism unit where her ability to compassionately connect and motivate was noted.  She built on her experience by working within a specialist school environment, where she was responsible for completing assessments, setting realistic goals and providing interventions for children in regards to their fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual perceptual skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, social skills and cognition.
  •  Her approach is to first and foremost take the time to understand each and every child’s unique situation. Drawing on her excellent assessment capabilities, she then outlines clear recommendations that she is able to translate to both parent and child in a caring, empathetic and effective manner. She then works alongside the child and their families to help them develop the skills they need in achieving their goals.
  •  Charmaine focuses on highlighting strengths, maximizing opportunities for growth and development while also promoting overall physical and mental well-being.  She incorporates “Child-Centered Play Therapy” as part of her program, with the belief that children use play as a natural language to express their emotions and learn. Play also helps to develop an effective therapeutic relationship at a pace, which the child is comfortable within a respectful and supportive environment.
  •  Charmaine is currently a member of the BAOT (British Association of Occupational Therapist) as well as the Sensory Integration Network.
  • Senior Specialist Pediatric Occupational Therapist
  • BSc. Occupational Therapy, University of Northhampton
